A developing country who had gained independence just three years prior became a republic in the true sense. 26 January, as we Proud Indians celebrate our Republic day.  This day was selected, because it was this day in 1930 when the Declration of Indian Independence was passed.

As I sit in my new york apartment sitting thousands of miles away from my homeland at 2:00 am, watching Sharapova scream her lungs out at the australian open, reading all the wishes by news channels, tweeple and socayers (social sayers); I start to imagine the first announcement, the first parade and all the other small things that were part of this historic day.
